Gina Schaak

Gina Schaak is an Associate at TAC. She has seven years experience working with populations including the extremely low income, disabled and homeless families and individuals in Boston. Through her experience in both the non-profit and public sector Gina has helped non-profit supportive housing and services agencies to navigate through local and federal regulations and restrictions, in order to access resources to support permanent supportive housing and supportive services to the most vulnerable populations.

Prior to joining TAC Ms. Schaak worked as the Project Manager at the Department of Neighborhood Development at the City of Boston. In that role she managed the Supportive Housing Programs (SHP) for homeless and disabled individuals and families, as well as the Shelter Plus Care (SPC) program, which links rental assistance to support services for homeless and formerly homeless individuals and families who are disabled with mental illness, chronic substance abuse, dually diagnosed and/or HIV/AIDS. Primarily she monitored non-profit homeless services provider agencies who were sub-recipients of Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) McKinney-Vento funds, awarded to the City of Boston. She provided trainings, workshops and technical assistance for these agencies, as well as the ongoing monitoring and evaluation of programs through site visits, monthly billing requests, annual progress reports, and annual renewal applications. Through providing technical assistance to over 50 non-profit agencies within the City of Boston's Continuum of Care (CoC) she worked collaboratively on revising service delivery models to fit the changing federal regulations, identifying additional funding sources, linking participants to mainstream resources, addressing overall budget/spending issues and focusing on methods of gathering data that most accurately represents the progress of each program.
