McKinney/Vento Technical Assistance Training: Building Blocks of Permanent Housing
This one-day training will provide an overview of the key components of permanent housing and different models of permanent housing. It will explore the steps to creating housing and identify potential resources to fund permanent housing. This training is designed for those interested in creating permanent housing options for homeless individuals and families including homeless service providers, non-profit and for-profit housing developers and others who are interested in creating new permanent housing opportunities for homeless people in their communities. Topics covered include:
- The essential components of housing;
- Scattered-site housing models including tenant based rental assistance;
- Se- asides in public and publicly assisted housing, as well as condominiums and cooperative apartment strategies;
- The housing development process including selecting sites, creating budgets, and identifying resources; and
- Special considerations and strategies to create permanent housing for chronically homeless individuals.
