On January 5, 2006 HUD announced the funding awards for the Section 811 Supportive Housing for People with Disabilities Program (Section 811). Section 811 housing assistance grants enable people with disabilities to live in safe, decent and affordable housing. The Section 811 program provides funds to non-profit organizations that can be used to acquire, rehabilitate, or construct new housing, as well as money to subsidize the tenants' rents in these buildings.
