What We Do

TAC's multidisciplinary professional staff works extensively in the fields of affordable housing and permanent supportive housing. TAC develops integrated and consumer-oriented strategies and plans that improve the effectiveness of housing and service approaches to expand affordable housing opportunities for extremely low-income households who have disabilities or who are homeless.

Housing Policy – With funding from the Melville Charitable Trust, TAC works to positively affect federal housing policies on behalf of people with disabilities and people who are homeless. Through housing affordability studies, housing monographs and publications, TAC provides valuable housing policy information to the disability community, housing and service providers, homeless advocates and providers, government agencies and the general public.  Read TAC’s publications.

Strategic Housing Planning – Using broad-based and inclusive processes for strategic housing planning, TAC helps both state and local disability agencies to design and carry out innovative approaches to gain access to government and housing programs and resources.  Through this work, TAC develops strategies that impact federally-mandated housing planning processes, such as the Consolidated Plan, the Public Housing Agency Plan and the Continuum of Care.

Technical Assistance – TAC is nationally recognized for its leadership in the development of specialized training and technical assistance approaches to meet housing and support needs at the state and community level.  TAC offers its clients expertise in evaluation, strategic planning, design and implementation of comprehensive curricula and training programs that support progressive learning, strategic thinking, and creative problem solving.  Key components of technical assistance approaches also include building capacity and brokering effective communication between affordable housing officials and the disability community.

NEW:McKinney/Vento Homeless Technical Assistance -TAC is a nationally recognized leader in providing consultation, technical assistance, and training on proven solutions to the housing and supportive services needs of homeless people, including chronically homeless people and other populations.  Since 1995, TAC has worked in partnership with HUD Headquarters and 20 separate HUD Field Offices to provide a comprehensive, coordinated, and multi-disciplinary approach to McKinney/Vento TA.  During this period, TAC has assisted thousands of TA recipients across the country to expand their knowledge and skills to achieve successful outcomes To learn more, click here.
