TAC Board

TAC’s Board of Directors serves in both governance and advisory roles.  TAC’s Board is representative of the diversity and interests included within TAC’s multi-disciplinary mission, and provides policy guidance and strategic advice to support TAC’s work with public and non-profit sector organizations.

Martin Cohen — A past Executive Director and co-founder of TAC, Marty serves as the Vice-Chair of TAC's Board. He is currently the President and CEO of MetroWest Community Health Care Foundation. Previously, Marty was Deputy Assistant Secretary for Mental Health Policy in Massachusetts, and was staff director for the Robert Wood Johnson program on mental illness.

Ann O'Hara — Ann is a co-founder of TAC. Ann was Assistant Secretary for Housing in Massachusetts, and assisted to create 2,500 units of permanent affordable housing for people with disabilities in the state. Ann's recent advocacy efforts at the national level have resulted in over $150 million in new housing subsidies for people with disabilities.

Ting Mintz — Ting is a mental health consumer advocate who provides training and advocacy nationwide on consumer rights, consumer self-help, cultural competence, and recovery and rehabilitation services. Ting is a founding member of the National Leadership Council on African American Mental Health.

Miles Shore, MD — A Bullard Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard's Medical School and senior faculty at Harvard's Kennedy School, Miles has been a member of TAC's Board of Directors since its inception in 1992. Miles was national project director of the Robert Wood Johnson nine-city demonstration program on mental illness, and for many years was director of the Massachusetts Mental Health Center.

John Morris — John is a professor of Clinical Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine and was founding Director of the South Carolina Center for Innovation in Public Mental Health. In addition to his contributions to best practices in the field, John has championed national efforts to institute uniform standards of quality and effectiveness for behavioral health services. John is past President and board member of the American College of Mental Health Administration (ACMHA).

Carolyn Lukensmeyer — Carolyn was Chief of Staff for Governor Richard Celeste in Ohio during the mental health reform years, and then served on Vice President Al Gore's staff during his tenure in Washington. Carolyn is now Chief of Staff for Mayor Anthony Williams in the District of Columbia, and has spearheaded the mental health reform efforts in the District.

Sheila Crowley — Sheila is President of the National Low Income Housing Coalition, one of the largest and most respected affordable housing advocacy organizations in the country. In addition to her expertise in national housing policy, Sheila brings her strong personal commitment to community housing advocacy and the housing and support services needs of people with disabilities to TAC's Board.
