HOMELESS Families

TAC provides technical assistance, research, training, and policy recommendations for how to solve homelessness for families. TAC works with a myriad of stakeholders including local and state government agencies, Continuum of Care (CoC) planning groups, and consortiums of non-profit organizations working together to end family homelessness. TAC builds the skills and knowledge base of individual non-profits dedicated to assisting and housing families that are homeless.

TAC's expertise includes knowledge of research on evidence-based best practices for solving family homelessness and strategies for fostering public systems change. TAC also helps communities repurpose outdated programs for homeless families into new models that emphasize diversion from shelter, and facilitate rapid exits from shelter into permanent housing. TAC educates the public on the unique challenges faced by homeless families including trauma issues, domestic violence, obstacles to public benefits access, employment barriers, and childcare and public school issues.

Recent Projects:

Family Homelessness Funders Collaborative: Recently TAC spearheaded a citywide planning project in a large urban area that brought family shelters together with funders to recommend new best practices for reducing reliance on shelter and reduce the number of families becoming homeless.
