HOMELESS VETERANS

TAC has assembled for its VA TA Initiative 15 experts who work to expand the array of funding resources accessed/leveraged by non-profit agencies serving homeless veterans, and to strengthen the ability of non-profits to incorporate best practices into the continuum of programs available to serve homeless veterans.

TAC's expertise includes the design and implementation of veterans-specific and HUD McKinney-Vento homeless assistance programs, as well as extensive knowledge of other mainstream housing and service programs and resources.

Core areas of competency include:

  • grant development, including the VA Homeless Providers Grant & Per Diem program

  • program development, financing and implementation of permanent supportive housing, rental assistance, and homelessness prevention programs

  • real estate financing and the development of permanent supportive housing

  • needs analysis and program evaluation strategies

Recent Projects:

VA Grant and Per Diem Support: Through funding from the VA's Homeless Providers Grant & Per Diem (GPD) program, TAC has provided interactive seminars and hands-on distance learning to nearly 400 community-based organizations to increase their understanding of and submit applications for various types of funding sources available to serve homeless veterans using transitional housing, permanent supportive housing and homelessness prevention models.

HUD-VASH Project Based Voucher Assistance: On September 28, 2010, HUD announced the availability of a set-aside of approximately 500 project--based vouchers (PBV) through HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) through a notice of competitive funding. TAC established, managed, and staffed a VASH PBV helpdesk and provided individual customized support to non-profit organizations interesting in partnering with local housing authorities to apply for this funding opportunity.
