Budget
Status as of 4/8/11:
President Obama has released his FY12 Budget Request. Congress has begun to hold hearings on the President’s proposals. The House Budget Committee has released a FY12 budget resolution that proposes deep cuts as well as major changes to the structure of many domestic programs.
4/15/11: Congress has passed, and the President is expected to sign into law, the final agreement on FY11 spending, H.R. 1437. The legislation includes a total of $38.5 billion in funding cuts to discretionary programs compared to FY10 enacted levels.
Despite the overall budget reductions from FY10 enacted levels, the Section 811 program received $50 million to create new units of housing for people with disabilities.

The Frank Melville Supportive Housing Reinvestment Act of 2010 is ground breaking bi-partisan legislation that will make significant changes and improvements to the Section 811 Supportive Housing for Persons with Disabilities program.

The National Housing Trust Fund (NHTF) will, once funded, provide communities with funds to build, preserve, and rehabilitate rental homes that are affordable for extremely and very low income households.

Congress passed FY 2010 T-HUD appropriation bill. Among several increases in levels of funding from FY2009, the Section 811 program was funded at $300 million, a $50 million increase.

HEARTH Act
The HEARTH Act will provide communities with new resources and better tools to prevent and end homelessness.
The Department of Veterans' Affairs (VA) has outlined a plan to end veteran homelessness.
