Steven Adelsheim, M.D., is a child psychiatrist and consultant to the New Mexico Behavioral Health Purchasing Collaborative through the New Mexico Department of Health (DOH). He is the former director of the DOH School Mental Health Programs. Currently, he is Professor of Psychiatry, Family/Community Medicine, and Pediatrics at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center. Named as one of the Best Doctors in America, Dr. Adelsheim is a nationally recognized consultant in the field of school mental health, working with many city, state, national and federal programs. He is the Co-Chair of the Committee on Schools of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. In 2005, he received the Academy’s Irving Phillips Award for significant contributions to the field of prevention of mental illnesses in children and adolescents.
