Saul Feldman, Ph.D., is Chairman Emeritus of United Behavioral Health (UBH), a nationwide organization that works with corporate America, health plans and the public sector to arrange for and oversee behavioral health services for more than 23 million beneficiaries. UBH is a subsidiary of UnitedHealth Group. Dr. Feldman previously served UBH as CEO and Chairman for 17 years. During the 14 years of his service at the National Institute of Mental Health, he directed the Staff College, as well as the nation’s community mental health and applied services research programs. His contributions to the behavioral health field led to his appointment in April 1998 to the National Advisory Council of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. Dr. Feldman is a Trustee of the Menninger Foundation and serves on the Institute of Medicine’s panel on Crossing the Quality Chasm: Adaptation to Mental Health and Addictive Disorders. He was appointed by the Governor of California as Commissioner on the Oversight and Accountability Commission created by the state’s new Mental Health Services Act. Dr. Feldman is founder and former President of the American College of Mental Health Administration. In his honor, the College established the Saul Feldman Award, granted to those individuals who have made outstanding lifetime contributions to advances in behavioral health policy and administration.
