Comprehensive Strategic Planning to Create New Permanent Supportive Housing in Ohio

TAC proved consultation and technical assistance to the Ohio Interagency Council on Homelessness and Affordable Housing, resulting in a comprehensive interagency strategy to create 6,000 new units of permanent supportive housing. TAC reviewed Ohio’s Medicaid plan, Medicaid waivers, the Money Follows the Person initiative, and state service delivery mechanisms and funding sources. TAC also conducted a detailed analysis of current federal and state housing affordability resources available in Ohio, including the Ohio Housing Trust Fund, and several general obligation bond programs for housing for people with mental illness or intellectual/ developmental disabilities. As a result of TAC’s work, the Council adopted a new State of Ohio Permanent Supportive Housing Policy Framework which was endorsed by the Governor, and leveraged both new and existing HUD funding to expand permanent supportive housing opportunities.
