In 2023, the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration made 50 Transformation Transfer Initiative awards to support states and territories in specific aspects of 988 and crisis services implementation/expansion: Workforce Development; Children & Adolescents; Serving Under-Resourced Minority Communities; Community Trauma; and Facilitating Timely Access to Community-Based Mental Health Services. Through the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors (NASMHPD), TAC supported grantees in achieving their system transformation goals.

TAC provided individual coaching and led a series of live information exchange sessions. To serve busy staff with unpredictable schedules, TAC recorded short “Knowledge Bite” presentations on each topic as well, accompanied by downloadable summaries of resources and strategies. TAC staff were also available to grantees through set office hours for those who wanted to learn more through live interaction with presenters.
