Alabama Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment (EPSDT)

As part of a settlement agreement under the federal Medicaid Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic and Treatment (EPSDT) statute, TAC (under subcontract to Guidehouse) supports the Alabama Department of Mental Health (ADMH) in developing and implementing intensive care coordination; parent and young adult peer support; and therapeutic mentoring. The state is working to expand home and community-based services for children, youth, and young adults with severe emotional disturbance (SED). Framed by System of Care core values, the goal of EPSDT services is for eligible children, youth, and young adults to live and thrive in their homes and communities. TAC provides subject matter expertise and project management for the state’s efforts to improve outcomes; to promote meaningful engagement in developmentally appropriate activities; to improve access to appropriate services; and to avoid costly and disruptive out-of-home placements.
