As part of a settlement agreement under the federal Medicaid Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic and Treatment (EPSDT) statute, TAC (under subcontract to Guidehouse) supported the Alabama Department of Mental Health in developing and implementing intensive care coordination; parent and young adult peer support; and therapeutic mentoring. Framed by System of Care core values, the goal of EPSDT services is for eligible children, youth, and young adults to live and thrive in their homes and communities. As the state worked to expand home and community-based services for children, youth, and young adults with severe emotional disturbance (SED), TAC provided subject matter expertise and project management for the state’s efforts to improve outcomes; promote meaningful engagement in developmentally appropriate activities; improve access to appropriate services; and avoid costly and disruptive out-of-home placements.
