Assessing Challenges to Behavioral Health Service Integration in Nebraska

In 2015, the Nebraska Division of Behavioral Health with the state’s Department of Health and Human Services engaged TAC to perform five tasks that led to the development of a Strategic Supportive Housing Plan for individuals with behavioral health challenges: a review of Department policy to identify inconsistencies and areas for alignment; conducting housing-related focus groups; conducting an environmental scan and review of existing housing planning efforts; researching available supportive housing services; and facilitation of service provider workgroups. The resulting housing plan included an assessment of housing and services existing in Nebraska, the estimated need for affordable housing for persons with serious behavioral health conditions living within Nebraska, and recommended strategic goals to improve access to housing and services.
