HUD 811 Project Rental Assistance TA

Since the passage of the Melville Act of 2010, the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded over $480 million in Section 811 PRA funds to 35 state housing agencies, supporting them to set aside units in affordable housing projects and to partner with state Medicaid and health and human services agencies on the development of integrated housing for people with significant disabilities.

Under contract with HUD’s Office of Multifamily Housing, TAC helps states identify their needs, developing individualized technical assistance plans matched to each state’s circumstances. Our assistance has included individual staff training, group in-person and remote training, peer-to-peer support opportunities, and the development of tools for program implementation and performance evaluation. TAC helps state housing, human services, and Medicaid agencies to clarify roles and establish effective working relationships in order to ensure the synchronization of housing and services for 811 target populations.

To help promote 811 PRA, HUD engaged TAC to develop a booklet: Section 811 Project Rental Assistance Program: Successfully Supporting Independent Living for People with Disabilities.
