Recovery Housing Program Training & Technical Assistance in Michigan

In 2024, the Michigan State Housing Development Authority contracted with TAC to offer training and consultation to recovery housing program (RHP) operators funded by U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grants. TAC delivered interactive virtual sessions to orient RHP operators to best practices outlined by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA); strategies for building cross-system partnerships; and helping people with substance use disorders who relapse to secure appropriate supports and interventions. Additionally, TAC offered individualized technical assistance on recovery housing best practices to funded operators on topics such as working with HUD homeless Continuums of Care and with public housing agencies and landlords; crisis response and critical incident protocols and practices; and best practices and partnerships to assist tenants with employment supports, educational services, and acquiring benefits and entitlements.
