In 2024, the Walla Walla County (WA) Department of Community Health engaged TAC to conduct a behavioral health crisis system landscape analysis and service mapping, with resulting system improvement recommendations. Working closely with the county to identify stakeholders and engagement opportunities, TAC gathered input from over 40 partners and people with direct experience in the relevant systems. This robust engagement informed a usable and relevant report analyzing system strengths, gaps, and opportunities, along with recommendations for improvement, including considerations for funding, data collection and analysis, ongoing community involvement, staffing and training, and county leadership. TAC also produced a public-facing visual representation of the current and proposed crisis systems. TAC went on to support the county’s implementation of the system improvement recommendations, which included forming a Behavioral Health Council to oversee the crisis system transformation, as well as building a countywide data system to track metrics and outcomes in the transformed crisis system.
