An Integrated Supportive Housing Strategy for Mississippi

In 2020, TAC assisted the Mississippi Department of Mental Health in developing a statewide integrated supportive housing strategy for people with mental illness or intellectual/developmental disabilities; Veterans; and other high-needs populations in the state. To support this process, TAC convened a strategic planning committee to discuss existing challenges and barriers to the availability of supportive housing, and to make recommendations for an organized, statewide strategy. TAC reviewed available sources of information pertaining to federal, state, and local resources and affordable housing policy in Mississippi, as well as approaches taken by other states to organize management of supportive housing resources for people with disabilities and other target populations. This resulted in a series of recommendations for the state to consider in meeting the integrated supportive housing needs of people with disabilities and other priority populations.
