Under a subcontract with Navigant, TAC has been providing technical assistance to the Alabama Department of Mental Health (DMH) since September 2017 on strategic supportive housing planning. Through on-site meetings, training presentations, and workgroup facilitation with DMH, state/local housing and service agencies, providers, consumers, and stakeholders from across the state, TAC assessed existing needs and resources and provided consultation on the development of permanent supportive housing (PSH) aligned with pre-tenancy and tenancy-sustaining services. This overall intent of this work is to help guide DMH to build its capacity to develop and implement a PSH pipeline and tenancy-related services for individuals with complex co-occurring substance use and medical needs, transition-age youth, and forensically involved individuals.
